The industries’ reason for founding Infinitum is the Norwegian tax system for beverage packaging, and environmental considerations. All beverage cans and bottles are subject to an environmental tax. The tax is reduced when the return rate of bottles and cans increase. If the return rate reach 95% percent, the environmental tax cease completely. In other words, the system rewards those who achieve a high return rate of empties.

Collecting and recycling bottles and cans constitute remarkable savings for the environment. Therefore, Infinitum strives to make everyone return more bottles and cans than they do today. This work helps reduce the environmental tax on bottles and cans, and the system recycles continues to recycle empties to the benefit of the environment.
